Five people were brutally murdered in one night at Rambabu Shukla’s house in Veerendra Nagar, Bhind. The victims included his daughter-in-law Reena, her daughters Chhavi and Ambika, Reena’s niece Mahima, and brother-in-law Golu. Four had their throats slit, while Golu was found tied up with cloth stuffed in his mouth. Blood was splattered across the floor, and the house was locked from outside, indicating the killer fled after securing the premises. Importantly, no valuables were missing, ruling out robbery as a motive. During investigation, a key figure emerged — tenant Roli Bhadauria, who was absent from the crime scene. Tutor Connection Roli revealed that a tutor regularly visited to teach her children, and widow Reena had developed a friendship with him. This shifted police suspicion toward the tuition teacher. The question remained: did he commit all five murders, and if so, why? One Clue, Arrest and Shocking Confession Roli’s statement became pivotal. Acting on this lead, police arrested 29-year-old teacher Ankur alias Nitesh Dixit from Govind Nagar within 24 hours. Under interrogation, Ankur confessed to a chilling tale of love, lust, and brutality that stunned investigators. Ankur’s Relationship with Reena Ankur admitted he frequently visited Reena’s house while tutoring Roli’s children. After her husband’s death, Reena grew close to him, and their friendship turned into a secret illicit relationship. They spoke for hours on the phone but kept it hidden from society. Night of Murders On May 13-14, 2016, Ankur visited Reena. He had already given her sleeping pills (Alprazolam), which she fed to her daughters and niece. Once they fell asleep, Reena invited him inside. While they were together, Reena’s brother-in-law Golu woke up and saw them. Fearing exposure, Ankur restrained and killed him. The noise woke Reena’s daughters and niece. Seeing them as witnesses, Ankur slit their throats one by one. Finally, fearing Reena herself could testify against him, he killed her too, erasing all evidence. Evidence and Trial Police recovered the murder weapon based on Ankur’s identification. Call records confirmed his relationship with Reena, and DNA evidence matched semen found on her body. Though there were no eyewitnesses, the circumstantial evidence was strong. On March 19, 2019, Bhind District Court convicted Ankur of five murders and sentenced him to death. High Court Twist Six months later, Ankur appealed in Gwalior High Court. The High Court found serious flaws and discrepancies in the prosecution’s case and police investigation, overturning the lower court’s death sentence. High Court reversed the decision based on these arguments Even today, eight years later, that house in Virendra Nagar of Bhind stands as a silent witness to that bloody night. Ankur Dixit is free, but one question still remains alive – if he is not the killer, then who is guilty of killing five innocent people? This is a mystery that will perhaps remain buried forever in the pages of the crime file.
