Three members of a family fell unconscious after inhaling toxic fumes from an acid-based toilet cleaner in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district on Monday morning. The incident occurred in Temni village under the Kotwali police station limits. The elderly father, whose condition was initially serious, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), while his wife and son are undergoing treatment in the general ward of the district hospital. According to information, the incident took place when Chandan, a farmer and resident of Temni village, was cleaning the toilet of his house in the morning. As he attempted to open the bottle of acid-based toilet cleaner, it suddenly opened under high pressure, causing the chemical to spill and release toxic fumes inside the enclosed bathroom. Chandan immediately began experiencing breathing difficulty, anxiety and discomfort due to the gas exposure. Unable to control the situation, he screamed for help. See, three pictures… Wife and son rushed to help, also exposed to toxic gas Hearing his cries, his wife Kala Bai and their son Lokesh rushed to the bathroom to assist him. However, as soon as they entered the confined space, they too inhaled the poisonous fumes. Within minutes, all three began feeling dizzy and gradually slipped into a semi-conscious state. Family members and neighbours quickly realised the seriousness of the situation and rushed the victims to the district hospital in Betul for emergency treatment. Doctors said that Chandan’s condition was initially critical, and he was shifted to the ICU for close monitoring. However, after timely medical intervention and treatment, his condition stabilised. Kala Bai and Lokesh were admitted to the ward and are now reported to be out of danger. Doctors confirm condition stable, police record statements Doctors at the district hospital confirmed that all three patients responded well to treatment and are now in stable condition.
