166-lakh-farmers-removed-from-mp’s-kisan-samman-nidhi-scheme:budget-cut-by-₹93.77-crore;-congress-calls-it-‘gradual-exclusion’

In February 2019, the Modi government started the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to give farmers 6,000 rupees every year in three payments of 2,000 rupees each. At the same time, the Madhya Pradesh government, led by then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, began giving farmers an extra 6,000 rupees. This means farmers in the state receive a total of 12,000 rupees each year. However, a report presented in Parliament shows that over 1.5 lakh farmers in Madhya Pradesh have not been included in this scheme. According to data presented by the government in the Rajya Sabha, over 1.66 lakh farmers in the state have been excluded from the list of this scheme in the last three years. This has directly impacted the financial assistance received by the state. Meanwhile, on the exclusion of 160,000 farmers from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Congress MLA Sujit Singh Choudhary said that farmers would gradually be excluded from this scheme. So far, 166,000 farmers have been excluded, and the amount received is like a drop in the ocean (literally ‘cumin in a camel’s mouth’). However, Agriculture Minister Aidal Singh Kansana stated that no one has been excluded from the scheme. Madhya Pradesh: Beneficiaries decreased from 83.48 lakh to 81.81 lakh According to information provided in Parliament, the number of beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh has decreased as follows: e-KYC Pending: Instalments of 74 thousand farmers are stuck A major reason for the decrease in the number of beneficiaries is technical requirements. According to data, instalments of 74,271 farmers in Madhya Pradesh are stalled simply because their e-KYC verification is incomplete. As soon as these farmers complete their process, their benefits can resume. 93 Crore Reduction in Budget The decrease in the number of beneficiaries has also led to a reduction in the amount received by the state.
