Lathi-charge on Congress workers in Shahdol:37 leaders detained while showing black flags to CM; party calls it bid to silence voices

Shahdol Collector Dr. Kedar Singh lathi-charged Congress workers who showed black flags to the Chief Minister’s convoy on Sunday. During this, several leaders including Youth Congress Jaisinghpur Assembly President Sheikh Sajid were injured. Block President Ankit Singh Baghel said that the Collector himself got down from his vehicle and started wielding the lathi on protesting workers. After the video of the incident surfaced, Congress District President Ajay Awasthi strongly protested. He said that this is an attempt to suppress voices and Congress will launch a major movement against this act. Administration Was Alert From Before
The administration was on alert regarding the CM’s visit since morning. When Congress tried to protest, police symbolically arrested the leaders and kept them at the police station. The protest became intense after the inauguration. Budhar police took 37 Congress leaders into custody; most of them got bail, but three leaders including Sheikh Sajid are still in police custody. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reached Dhanpuri city in Shahdol on Sunday afternoon. During this, he inaugurated the state-of-the-art water park built by the Municipal Council at a cost of 20 crore rupees. The park includes a club house, mini Olympic standard swimming pool and entertainment facilities for children and youth. CM inaugurated and performed ground-breaking ceremony of 142 development works costing 767 crore rupees. This includes Nagar Panchayat Jaitpur, start of PG classes in Medical College, college buildings in Shahdol and Jaitpur, benefit to 122 villages from 2300 crore rupees irrigation project, construction of Gita Bhawan in Budhar and road construction works. Earlier during the program, citing the example of Mata Shabari, the Chief Minister said that she did penance and received its reward when Lord Ram himself came to her. CM said that this is a big message against casteism and discrimination in society. Mentioning the Prime Minister’s decision in favor of farmers, he said that there was a delay in trade-related decisions with America, but this increased India’s respect and economic strength. In the program, BJP MLA Jaysingh Maravi presented his demands, while Shahdol MP Himadri Singh said that she is fully confident that the CM will fulfill the demands of their region. Additionally, Mata Shabari’s statue was unveiled in Gandhia of Jaysinghnagar Janpad area.
