A BJP councillor’s wife was stabbed to death in Mandsaur on Thursday evening. The victim, Rubina, wife of Ward No. 15 BJP councillor Shahid Mew, was attacked with a sharp knife while boarding an auto-rickshaw. She was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared her dead. The incident took place around 5:30 pm in the Abhinandan area of the city. Rubina was returning to her rented house after visiting her father’s home. As she was getting into an auto-rickshaw, two youths arrived on an Apache motorcycle. One of them got off the bike and launched a sudden knife attack on her. Both accused fled the spot immediately after the attack. Family dispute angle under probe Preliminary investigation suggests the murder may be linked to a family dispute. According to police sources, a youth named Sahil, said to be connected to the family, is suspected of being involved in the crime. Police are investigating this angle as well. Police launch search operation Soon after receiving information, police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined. Police teams have been deployed to trace the attackers, and raids are being conducted at possible hideouts. Doctor says woman was already dead Dr Mitanshi Jain, who was on duty at the district hospital, said Rubina had already died before she was brought to the hospital. She had four to five deep stab wounds on her body. She was also attacked on the head with a knife. One severe stab wound to the abdomen had caused her intestines to spill out. Post-mortem to be conducted today The victim’s body has been kept at the district hospital. Post-mortem will be conducted on Friday morning, after which the body will be handed over to the family. Rubina was the wife of BJP councillor Shahid Mew, who won the municipal elections from Ward No. 15 on a BJP ticket in 2022. This was his first election victory. Married 7 months ago Police said Shahid Mew had married Rubina around seven months ago. Rubina had two children from a previous marriage, including a son and a daughter. Police are examining all personal and family-related aspects linked to the case. Family demands strict punishment Rubina’s brother, Piru Shah, said his sister was attacked while returning home and demanded the strictest punishment for those responsible. He said the family wants justice and swift action against the accused.
