Shahgarh police in Sagar have solved the murder of nurse Deepshikha Chadhar within 24 hours, revealing that she was shot dead by her maternal cousin, Sushil Athya, who was allegedly obsessed with her in a one-sided love affair. According to police, the unemployed accused, a resident of Panagar in Jabalpur, had been pressuring Deepshikha to marry him for a long time. When she repeatedly refused, tensions escalated. On Tuesday, Sushil travelled from Jabalpur to Sagar with the intention of killing her. After keeping watch throughout the day, he seized an opportunity late at night and opened fire, firing three shots before fleeing the scene. One bullet missed, while two pierced Deepshikha’s back and struck her heart, killing her on the spot. Police said public anger erupted after the murder, with Deepshikha’s family blocking the road on Thursday, demanding the accused’s arrest. The situation was brought under control only after police intervention. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to the police to understand how the murder mystery was cracked. Shot at the hospital gate Additional SP Dr. Sanjeev Uike said, Deepshikha Chadhar (26) was a resident of Patan, Jabalpur. For about 2 years, she was working as a nurse at Shahgarh Community Health Center in Sagar. She lived in a rented room about 200 meters away from the hospital.Deepshikha’s parents live in the village. She has a younger sister who is disabled.On Wednesday, Deepshikha’s duty was from 8 PM to 8 AM. When it was time for duty, she left for the hospital on foot. As soon as she reached near the hospital gate, Sushil grabbed her hand.When Deepshikha freed her hand, Sushil pushed her to the ground. Then he took out a country-made pistol from his pocket and fired three shots. Deepshikha died on the spot after being hit by two bullets. Other teams are raiding the homes of the accused’s relatives and acquaintances. Family members blocked road in protest against murder On Thursday, Deepshikha’s family reached Shahgarh. Police conducted a post-mortem of the body and handed it over to them. Enraged by the incident, the family blocked the Sagar-Kanpur Highway. They demanded the immediate arrest of Sushil and strict action. Police reached the spot and pacified the people by explaining the situation. Shahgarh Police Station in-charge Sandeep Khare said, Police teams have been deployed to arrest the accused. Both knew each other beforehand. All points that have emerged in the investigation so far are being investigated. The accused will be apprehended soon.
