A new spell of rain is set to return to Madhya Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhopal, has issued a rain alert for 31 January and 1–2 February across most parts of the state due to a strong western disturbance. Before that, dense fog has covered nearly half of the state on Friday. Fog across many districts On Friday morning, light to moderate fog was seen in 24 districts of the Bhopal, Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, Jabalpur, Rewa, and Shahdol divisions. Fog affected areas include Gwalior, Rewa, Shahdol, Sagar, Guna, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Datia, Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Panna, Katni, Satna, Maihar, Sidhi, Singrauli, and others. According to weather scientist Arun Sharma, the western disturbance will bring rain again from 31 January to 2 February. Fog will continue before the rain begins. Rain alert for the next 3 days Cold to increase after the system passes Heavy snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu Kashmir have affected weather patterns. Strong jet stream winds are also influencing Madhya Pradesh. Cold winds were felt on Thursday, especially in the Gwalior–Chambal region, where daytime temperatures dropped. The weather department says that cold conditions will intensify again after the system moves away, with a further fall in day and night temperatures. Very cold conditions in some areas After hail and rain stopped, cold and fog increased across the state. On Thursday morning, many districts had fog even till 10 am. Visibility was low in over 20 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Satna, Dhar, Guna, Raisen, and others. Night temperatures also fell sharply. Mandsaur recorded temperatures below 5°C, while Pachmarhi, the state’s only hill station, was the second coldest place. Day temperatures below 20°C in many cities While nights were slightly less severe, daytime cold remained strong. On Thursday: Overall, Madhya Pradesh is set to see fog, rain, and a return of cold weather over the next few days.
