Captain Shambhavi sent last message to her grandmother:Family affectionately called her ‘Cheeni’, inherited passion for flying from her grandfather and father

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar passed away in a plane crash at Baramati Airport on Wednesday morning at 8:45 AM. In the accident, five people lost their lives, including Pawar’s security guard, two pilots, and a female crew member. Among them, Captain Shambhavi Pathak was a resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Currently, Shambhavi’s family has shifted to Delhi. In Gwalior, her grandmother Meera Pathak lives at house number D-61, Basant Vihar. Shambhavi had messaged her grandmother at 6:30 AM that day, writing, ‘Hi, Good Morning Dadi.’ Grandmother Meera replied, ‘Good Morning, Cheeni.’ She is now crying, remembering her granddaughter while looking at this very message. Grandmother unaware it was last message Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Meera Pathak said, ‘Everyone at home calls Shambhavi ‘Cheeni.’ She never used to message me. I don’t know how she remembered today. I didn’t know this was her last message to me.’ At 9 AM, Shambhavi’s father, Vikram called. ‘He was crying. I had heard about the plane crash and understood something was wrong. Vikram said he would call back later and hung up,’ she said. About two hours later, the news of Shambhavi’s death in the plane crash came. Astrologer predicted she would achieve fame Meera Pathak said, ‘Shambhavi was closest to my heart. Due to work commitments, we didn’t talk much, but whenever we did, it was for a long time. She lovingly called me ‘Dada’ instead of ‘Dadi.’ She used to say that after grandfather passed away, I am her only grandfather.’ She added, “While getting her horoscope made, the astrologer had told me that my daughter will make such a name for herself in 2026–27 that it will be recognized throughout the country. She inherited her passion for flying from her grandfather, Shrikishan Pathak and father Vikram Pathak. Her grandfather retired from the Air Force as a Wing Commander, while her father is a Group Captain in the Air Force. This is why she wanted to pursue an aviation career.’ Meera added that Shambhavi lived in Delhi with her father, mother, and brother Varun.
