Candidates in Indore have once again launched an agitation outside the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) since late Saturday night. After receiving court permission, the National Educated Youth Union (NEYU) is leading a sit-in protest outside the commission office over 10-point demands, which will continue for the next four days. Despite the severe cold, a large number of candidates, including women, have joined the protest. They have spread bedding outside the MPPSC premises and are spending nights there by lighting bonfires. The agitation has been named ‘Nyay Yatra 2.0’ (Justice Journey 2.0). Exactly 13 months ago, in December 2024, hundreds of PSC candidates had staged a similar week-long agitation. At that time, the district administration ended the protest by assuring that many demands would be accepted, but the candidates allege that most of those assurances have not been fulfilled so far. Protest after High Court approval NEYU convener Radhe Jat said, NEYU’s Nyay Yatra 2.0 (Justice Journey 2.0) for Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission examinations has received approval from the Indore High Court. This approval has been granted under Article 19 in WP-3025-2026. The journey is being undertaken for 10-point demands. Coaching institutes, libraries, and other students will participate peacefully in the movement. We have received permission from the court to protest peacefully, so we will stage a sit-in here with complete peace. Previous demands unfulfilled, discontent persists During the last agitation, out of the 6–7 demands that were agreed upon, only two could be implemented. The promise of recruitment for more posts could not be fulfilled. Candidates say that about 90 percent of the demands are still pending today. Biggest demand: Reduction in interview marks The biggest demand of the candidates is regarding the interview marks of the State Service Examination. They say that an interview of 185 marks is excessive, which raises the apprehension of irregularities in the selection process. It should be reduced to 100 marks.
