A man from Rajasthan has been arrested in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, for hiding his real identity while staying in a hotel with a Hindu woman. He allegedly used a fake Aadhaar card with a Hindu name to avoid trouble. His real identity was exposed through a UPI payment, leading to police action. Identity hidden using fake name The accused has been identified as Ashraf Khan, a resident of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. He was staying at Hotel Raj in Mandsaur with his Hindu girlfriend. Ashraf told the hotel staff that his name was Chetan Prakash. He also produced an Aadhaar card with this name during check-in. UPI transaction exposes truth Suspicion arose when the hotel owner, Ashok Maru, checked a UPI transaction linked to the room payment. The payment of Rs 600 was made from a bank account registered in the name of Ashraf Khan. This did not match the name Chetan Prakash recorded in the hotel register. The mismatch alerted the hotel owner. Two Aadhaar cards recovered When questioned later at night, Ashraf was found carrying two Aadhaar cards. Both cards had the same photograph but different names and addresses. Police said both Aadhaar cards were issued in Rajasthan. One carried the name Ashraf Khan, while the other had the Hindu name Chetan Prakash. Police called, accused arrested Following the discovery, the hotel owner informed the police. Kotwali police reached the spot and took both individuals to the police station for questioning. After investigation, police arrested Ashraf Khan. A case has been registered against him under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant sections. Came to Mandsaur for exam Police said Ashraf had come to Mandsaur to appear for a lab technician examination. The exam was held at Shriji College. The couple checked into the hotel in the morning and went for the exam. They returned to the hotel later that night, when the issue came to light. Both work as nursing staff According to police, both Ashraf and the woman work as nursing staff at a hospital in Jodhpur. The woman is a resident of Nagaur district in Rajasthan. The families of both individuals have been informed about the incident. Attempt to avoid trouble During initial questioning, Ashraf told police that he feared problems if he stayed in a hotel with a Hindu woman under his real Muslim name. To avoid this, he allegedly used a fake Aadhaar card with a Hindu identity. However, the hotel owner noticed the inconsistency and alerted authorities. Station in-charge Pushpendra Singh Rathore said police are investigating the case in detail. Further action will be taken based on the findings.
