The Congress will take out a Nyay Yatra in Indore on Sunday to protest the Bhagirathpura contaminated water tragedy, which has claimed 21 lives so far and left hundreds hospitalised. Several patients are still undergoing treatment, even as anger grows over the incident. The Congress alleged that the BJP-led government and the administration responsible for what it described as a grave civic failure. The party alleged that negligence by the authorities led to the loss of lives in Bhagirathpura, calling the incident a blot on the city. According to the party, the Nyay Yatra will begin from Bada Ganpati Chouraha and proceed to Rajwada. The march is expected to start around noon. The Congress said the yatra is being organised to demand accountability and justice for the families of those who died in the Bhagirathpura incident. Senior Congress leaders to participate Several senior leaders are expected to take part in the march, including MPCC chief Jitu Patwari, former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, leader of opposition Umang Singhar, former minister Sajjan Verma, MP Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, and Indore City Congress president Chintu Choukse. Congress MLAs, corporators, Seva Dal members, Women’s Congress office-bearers and a large number of party workers are also expected to join. Silent and non-political march Indore City Congress president Chintu Choukse and district president Vipin Wankhede said the Nyay Yatra will be a silent march. No welcome stages, banners or party flags will be used along the route. They said the march would be non-political in nature and aimed at representing the voice of Indore’s citizens seeking justice for the Bhagirathpura victims. They added that citizens from rural areas and nearby districts would also participate, arriving in large vehicles and, in some cases, tractors.
