A high-speed car crash in Indore in the early hours of Friday claimed the lives of three young people, including Prerna Bachchan (26), daughter of former Home Minister Bala Bachchan, and Prakhar Kasliwal, son of Congress state spokesperson Anand Kasliwal. A fourth occupant, a young woman, was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The accident occurred between Ralamandal and Tejaji Nagar and was so severe that car parts were scattered up to 25 metres from the crash site. Video surfaces from immediately after the crash A video recorded moments after the accident has surfaced, showing police personnel reaching the spot and pulling the victims out of the mangled car. Eyewitnesses said the accident took place between 5:15 am and 5:30 am. Preliminary estimates suggest the car was travelling at a speed of nearly 140 kilometres per hour. Car crashed into dumper after flyover According to eyewitnesses, the car was coming down a flyover at high speed when it lost control and rammed into a dumper moving ahead. The impact was so forceful that Prerna Bachchan, who was seated in the rear, was thrown through the windshield onto the bonnet of the car. Police said Prakhar was driving the vehicle, with Manasandhu seated beside him, while the two women were in the rear seat. It was Prakhar’s birthday, and the group was returning to Indore after a party at Coco Farm. Police suspect all four were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, leading to the loss of control. Prerna Bachchan, Prakhar Kasliwal and Manasandhu died on the spot. Group had left for celebration late at night According to information, Prakhar, Prerna, Manasandhu and Anushka had left their homes to celebrate Prakhar’s birthday. Sources at Coco Farm said the group left the venue between 1:00 am and 1:15 am after dinner. There are conflicting accounts about their night stay. While Coco Farm sources claimed the group stayed overnight at Boho Farm, the management of Boho Farm denied their presence. Sources indicated the group stayed elsewhere during the night and went out for a drive in the morning, during which the accident occurred while they were returning home. Liquor bottles found inside the car Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishna Lal Chandani said the grey Nexon car (registration number MP 13 ZS 8994) was carrying Prerna Bachchan (26), Prakhar Kasliwal (25), Manasandhu (26) and Anushka Rathi. During the investigation, three empty bottles of Johnny Walker liquor were recovered from the rear seat. A glass with the message “Happy Birthday Prakhar” was also found inside the car. Six airbags deployed, yet lives lost Despite all six airbags deploying at the time of the collision, the three occupants could not be saved. Police said Anushka survived because she was seated on the rear left side, while the impact occurred on the right side of the vehicle. The collision was so intense that the cover of the CNG meter box installed at the rear of the car was thrown nearly 15 metres away. The steering wheel was ripped off and flung towards the passenger side, while the roof rails and the electric panel used to open the sunroof were also dislodged. Victims’ background Prerna Bachchan had completed her MBA from Mumbai and was preparing for the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examination while living in Indore. Prakhar Kasliwal was also an MBA graduate and managed his family’s medical store business. Manasandhu and his brother were involved in the transport business.
