A minor dispute between two groups escalated into a violent street brawl in the Baikunthpur police station area of Rewa district on Friday. Both sides clashed for nearly 20 minutes, attacking each other with sticks, bicycles and stones. Several people sustained head injuries, and the assault continued even after blood was seen on the road. At least four people from both groups were seriously injured in the incident. A video of the clash has since surfaced, triggering panic in the locality. Residents confine themselves indoors According to eyewitnesses, an argument first broke out between Suresh Kacher and Ganesh Halwai and Lavkush Halwai in Ward No. 7 of the Baikunthpur Nagar Panchayat. As tensions escalated, both sides called in supporters, and the situation quickly spiralled into a violent confrontation. The attackers used sticks along with bicycles and large stones, creating chaos on the road. Terrified residents shut themselves inside their homes as the violence continued. Police intervene, injured shifted to hospital Suresh Kacher and his two sons sustained serious injuries, while one person from the opposing group was also reported to be critically hurt. Suresh Kacher is engaged in the distribution of a private newspaper. Upon receiving information, Baikunthpur police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. All the injured were admitted to hospital for treatment. Probe underway, action promised Tension continues to prevail in the ward following the incident. Police said an investigation is underway based on video footage, medical reports and eyewitness statements. Complaints from both sides are being recorded, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty after the investigation, police officials said.
