A police team came under attack in Satna district late on Thursday night when a group of intoxicated youths pelted stones at them. The incident took place in Hanuman Nagar New Basti. Several policemen were surrounded and forced to retreat to save their lives. No injuries were reported, but the incident has raised concerns over law and order. Stone pelting on police late at night The incident occurred around 12 midnight in Ward No. 15 of Satna. A group of intoxicated youths allegedly created a ruckus near a water tank and abused people in the area. Kolgawan police station received information about the disturbance. Two policemen first reached the spot on a motorcycle and tried to calm the youths. Instead of cooperating, the youths misbehaved with the police. Situation worsened, more force called As the situation became tense, the policemen called for additional force. When more police personnel arrived, the accused youths ran towards New Basti. Policemen surrounded and attacked When the police team followed them into the settlement, around 12 intoxicated individuals already present there surrounded one ASI and four constables. They abused the policemen and suddenly began pelting stones at them. The sudden attack created panic among the police personnel. They were forced to retreat from the area to protect themselves. Fortunately, no police officer was seriously injured. After the incident, fear spread among residents of the area. The open attack on the police has raised serious questions about public safety and law enforcement. Police begin investigation Kolgawan police station in-charge Sudeep Soni said the team was led by ASI Umesh Pandey. He confirmed that the attack occurred while police were trying to maintain peace.
