Bhopal police have initiated action after a truck loaded with meat was intercepted in front of the Police Headquarters (PHQ) on Wednesday night. Hindu organisations staged protests, alleging that the meat included beef. The situation prompted the municipal corporation to seal a local slaughterhouse. Protests outside Commissioner’s office A large number of workers from various Hindu organisations gathered outside the Police Commissioner’s office, carrying saffron flags and raising slogans. They claimed that the investigation report confirmed the presence of beef, although police have not issued any official statement. The truck was reportedly carrying around 26 tons of meat, allegedly destined for dispatch abroad via Hyderabad and Mumbai. Slaughterhouse operator taken into custody Police have detained the slaughterhouse operator, Aslam Chamda, who is currently being interrogated. Authorities are investigating the meat supply chain, packing processes, and transportation details. ACP Monica Shukla stated, “We are investigating. Action will be taken against the culprits,” emphasising that the matter would be clarified only after the final report and legal proceedings. Allegations of police inaction Bhanu Hindu, associated with the Jai Maa Bhavani organisation, claimed that sources confirmed the meat was beef. He criticised the police for not taking a clear stance and accused officials of delaying action by directing activists from one department to another. Traffic disruption due to protests The protests caused traffic congestion around the Police Commissioner’s office as crowds of demonstrators continued to raise slogans and display banners demanding strict action.
