In a brazen attack challenging law and order, members of the sand mafia allegedly targeted a tehsildar in Shahdol while officials were trying to curb illegal sand mining. On Wednesday night in Byohari, the mafia deliberately rammed Tehsildar Shani Dwivedi’s government Bolero in an attempt to run him over. They also scattered sand across the road, putting the officer’s life in grave danger. The entire incident was captured on video. Attack occurs near Kharpa Tiraha The incident took place near Kharpa Tiraha in the Byohari police jurisdiction. Tehsildar Shani Dwivedi, along with his team, had reached the area to stop a tractor loaded with sand coming from the forest. During the action, the accused rammed the government vehicle and tried to flee the scene. Sand spread on road to endanger life While being chased, the person sitting on the tractor-trailer opened the trailer’s tailgate with a spade. The driver then raised the trailer using hydraulics, causing sand to spill across the road. The fast-paced, zig-zag driving and scattered sand created a life-threatening situation for the pursuing tehsildar’s vehicle. See two pictures related to the incident… Threats to kill Tehsildar The video shows the government Bolero with sirens chasing the tractor. At the scene, the tractor owner’s son arrived on a bike and verbally abused the tehsildar while threatening to kill him. Police register case, seize tractors Following Tehsildar Dwivedi’s complaint, the police registered a case against two individuals: Kamta Bais (father: Jamuna Bais) and Amardeep Bais alias Jhabbu (father: Kamta Bais), both residents of Gram Sarwahi Khurd, Byohari police station area. Byohari Station In-charge (Trainee DSP) Rishabh Chari stated that raids are ongoing to apprehend the accused. After the attack, police also seized six other tractors involved in illegal sand mining and transportation.
