Rural development officers directed to conduct monthly field visits:Minister Prahlad Patel calls for district-wise grading based on performance; orders immediate action on irregularities

Madhya Pradesh Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Prahlad Patel has directed all departmental officers to undertake mandatory field visits every month to assess the ground-level implementation of government schemes.
Stressing accountability, he said that any irregularity or lapse detected at any level must invite immediate action. The minister issued these instructions during a review meeting of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and the Swachh Bharat Mission held in Bhopal on Thursday. Minister of State Radha Singh was also present at the meeting. The general body meetings of both the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and the Swachh Bharat Mission were also conducted on this occasion. Replication of best practices across districts Patel said that innovative and effective initiatives undertaken in any district should be replicated across other districts in the state. Stressing the importance of monitoring, he asked officers to personally verify the implementation of schemes to ensure that benefits actually reach rural citizens. Focus on timely implementation of VB-G RAM G scheme During the meeting, the minister also reviewed progress on the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G). He instructed officials to complete all preparations in a time-bound manner in accordance with guidelines issued by the Government of India for the implementation of the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025. Notably, a day earlier, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal had held a press conference, attended by Minister Patel, accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation about the VB-G RAM G Bill. Following this, a detailed departmental-level review meeting was convened. Monthly district grading to encourage healthy competition The minister further directed that all districts be graded every month based on their performance, and the ranking list be made public to foster healthy competition among officials. He stressed the need for strict quality control in construction works and asked the technical staff to carry out regular monitoring to prevent negligence. Patel reiterated that ensuring the real and effective delivery of benefits to the rural population remains the government’s top priority, adding that any laxity in implementation would not be tolerated.
