In a major breakthrough, Gwalior police have solved the murder case of a semi-naked woman and arrested her boyfriend, Sachin Sen, for allegedly killing Kalibai, also known as Sunita Pal. The accused was taken into custody on Monday and sent to jail. Remarkably, investigators identified the victim using a piece of omelette found near the body, combined with artificial intelligence-based facial reconstruction, which ultimately led them to the perpetrator. Victim beaten to death by boyfriend According to police, Sachin Sen killed Sunita Pal by crushing her face with stones. The couple had only been together for seven days in a physical relationship. Locals revealed that Sunita had been married seven times previously. The short post-mortem report confirmed no sexual assault, although initial circumstances had raised suspicion of rape. Body found semi-naked; investigation hindered by identity crisis The body was discovered on 29 December 2025, in the bushes near Katare Farm, Narayan Vihar Colony on Bhind Road, Gwalior. The victim’s face was badly disfigured, making immediate identification impossible. Police recovered a blood-stained stone, the woman’s clothes, and men’s clothing from the scene. A piece of omelette lying nearby ultimately played a key role in identifying her. AI facial reconstruction helps identify victim The police used artificial intelligence (AI) to reconstruct the victim’s face. The photo was circulated in areas where migrant laborers lived. After extensive questioning behind the Mela Ground, laborers and local street vendors identified the woman as Kalibai from Tikamgarh. She was known to frequent Pinto Park and the Gola Ka Mandir area, often buying tea and eggs from local stalls. Sunita Pal’s past life: Seven marriages Following identification, police traced her home to Tikamgarh. Sunita Pal had been married seven times, leaving her last husband, Pappu Pal, about two years ago. She also had a tattoo of the name “Pappu” on her hand. Investigators then returned to Gwalior and traced Sachin Sen, who was last seen with the victim. Murder triggered by discovery of other relationships Sachin told police that he had met Sunita only seven days prior and had begun a romantic relationship. Sunita had assured him she had left her past behind. However, after learning she had relationships with other men, Sachin, in a fit of rage, murdered her. Omelette clue leads to arrest A piece of omelette found near the body proved crucial. Police interviewed nearly 200 local egg vendors, one of whom provided information about the victim and the accused, helping authorities track down Sachin. Victim’s background: Addiction and missing person case Police investigation revealed Sunita was a drug addict. She had previously been married to Pappu Pal from Maharajpura, left him two years ago, spent time with a man named Lakhan alias Kais Khan in Uttar Pradesh, and finally moved to Gwalior. A missing person report had been filed in Tikamgarh, but police had been unable to trace her until this investigation.
