Chaos broke out at the Piplai (Nipania) toll plaza on the Ujjain–Jhalawar National Highway-27 after toll workers allegedly assaulted bus passengers with sticks. The incident took place late Saturday night, while its video surfaced on Sunday. The Malwa bus was en route from Ujjain to Agar when the clash occurred. According to information, toll employees were sitting in the middle lane after lighting a bonfire, without placing any barricades or warning indicators. The bus inadvertently entered the same lane, and when some passengers asked the staff to clear the path, the argument escalated, leading to violence. According to eyewitnesses, 15-20 toll employees suddenly attacked the youths on the bus with sticks. In this assault, one youth was seriously injured. It is alleged that a toll employee entered the bus and started hitting passengers with a stick. The female passenger sitting in front started screaming in panic. Ghatiya Police Station in-charge Karan Kuanl stated that they received information about an assault at Nipania toll. Yuvraj (25), a resident of Makadon, who was traveling in the Malwa bus, was assaulted by toll employees. Upon receiving the information, the police team reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured youth was treated. The police station in charge informed that two accused have been identified in the case. A case has also been registered against other toll employees. The police are investigating the entire matter.
