Ahead of Simhastha and future travel needs, the Railways has started plans to improve passenger facilities at major stations in the Indore–Ujjain region. These include Indore, Lakshmibainagar, Mhow, Ujjain and other nearby stations. Under the plan, seven new pit lines and 16 new stabling lines will be built. This will allow 32 more trains to run daily, including 21 trains for primary maintenance and 11 platform return trains. The Railway Public Relations Department said the aim is to double the operating capacity of trains in major cities over the next five years. The work will include new station buildings, platforms, pit lines, stabling and holding areas, coach facilities and overall station development.
