A 33-year-old woman died after her husband allegedly poured diesel on her and set her on fire in a village in Burhanpur district. The incident followed a long-running domestic dispute. The accused fled after the attack, and police have launched a search. Incident in Bahadurpur Village The incident took place in Bahadurpur village on Tuesday morning at around 8.30 am. The woman has been identified as Jyoti. Her husband is Arun. According to information, Jyoti and Arun had been arguing for the past two days. They fought again on Tuesday morning. During the argument, Arun allegedly attacked his wife. Locked in kitchen and set ablaze Villagers said Arun locked Jyoti inside the kitchen. He then poured diesel on her and set her on fire. At the time, Arun’s mother and the couple’s two daughters were present in the house. Jyoti was found in a severely burnt condition at home. An ambulance took her to hospital, but she died during treatment. Family alleges regular abuse Jyoti’s family said Arun often assaulted her. They have demanded strict action against him. After the incident, Arun fled from the spot. Police teams are searching for him. Police from Lalbagh police station reached the scene. The body was sent to the district hospital for post-mortem. Lalbagh police station in-charge Amit Jadon said the couple had a history of disputes. Sister-in-law narrowly escapes Vijay Umale, the sarpanch representative of Bahadurpur, said Jyoti’s sister-in-law tried to save her. She narrowly escaped serious injuries. Jyoti was originally from Jainabad village.She was married and living in Bahadurpur. Arun works as a driver for an oil trader and also does farming. The couple had two daughters, aged around five and six years. Investigation continues Police said further action will be taken after the post-mortem report. Efforts are on to arrest the accused husband.
