Police came under attack in Bhopal when they went to arrest a known criminal in the Nishatpura area. Local residents blocked the operation, leading to clashes. Police used force to control the situation and later arrested 34 people. Several illegal items were also recovered. Police team attacked during arrest drive The incident took place on Sunday morning at Irani Dera in Nishatpura, Bhopal. A police team had gone to the area to arrest a history-sheeter named Raju. As officers began the operation, the situation quickly turned violent. Women blocked police, men joined clash At first, local women stood in front of the police and blocked their way. Soon after, men joined them. Together, they argued with and pushed the police team. Some people even scuffled with women police officers. Lathi charge used to disperse crowd As the unrest increased, police used a lathi charge to disperse the crowd. The situation was brought under control after some time. Senior police officers also reached the spot to supervise the operation. 34 arrested, heavy police deployment Police arrested 24 men and 10 women for rioting. All 34 accused were produced in court and later sent to jail. A heavy police force has been deployed in the area, and regular patrolling is being carried out to prevent further trouble. Fake pistol and stolen items recovered During searches, police seized one fake pistol, 51 mobile phones and 21 two-wheelers from different hideouts. These recoveries suggest the group was involved in organised crime. Criminals posed as fake police officers DCP Mayur Khandelwal said police had received several complaints against youths from Irani Dera in Aman Colony. They were involved in crimes across Bhopal and nearby districts. In many cases, they posed as police officers to cheat people. They were also involved in mobile and chain snatching. Fake weapon found at local criminal’s house Police recovered the fake pistol from the house of Kala Irani, a known local offender. He admitted using it to threaten people. He also confessed to cheating victims by pretending to be a police officer.
