A nine-year-old boy suffered severe electric burns while trying to retrieve a kite from an electric pole in Indore. He came in contact with a high-tension power line and sustained around 70 per cent burns. His condition remains critical in hospital. A video of the incident has also surfaced, raising fresh concerns over power line safety. Incident in Nagin Nagar The incident took place on Sunday evening in Nagin Nagar. The area falls under the Chandan Nagar police station limits in Indore. The child climbed an electric pole to take down a kite that was stuck. Contact with high-tension line While on the pole, the child accidentally touched a high-tension power line. He was immediately electrocuted. A loud explosion and a firecracker-like sound were heard, according to local residents. Rescue by locals People from nearby houses rushed to the spot after hearing the noise. After considerable effort, they managed to bring the child down from the pole. He was rushed to MY Hospital in a vehicle. Child identified, condition critical The injured child has been identified as Govind Gaur, aged nine. Doctors at MY Hospital said he has suffered around 70 per cent burns. His condition remains serious, and he is undergoing treatment. The police were informed about the incident by the hospital. Govind’s father, Manish, works as a mechanic. His mother, Preeti Patel, is a homemaker. The family originally belongs to Vidisha and is currently living in a rented house in Indore. Video of incident surfaces A video of the incident has emerged. It shows the child stuck to the electric line before locals manage to rescue him. The video has shocked residents in the area. Similar incident reported earlier A similar incident occurred last week on Dhar Road. A 12-year-old child came in contact with a high-tension line and later died during treatment. In that case, Chhatripura police registered an accidental death case.
