A fire broke out at the timber market in the Pul Patra area of Bhopal early Saturday morning at around 2:45 am. The blaze first started at a furniture shop and soon spread to a nearby sawmill. Within a short time, the fire engulfed three locations, including the furniture shop and the sawmill. While firefighting operations were underway, a wall of the sawmill collapsed, injuring four people, including two employees. All the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital. The affected establishments are reported to be Bhopal Decoration and Anjum Bhai’s sawmill. At the time of reporting, the fire had not yet been fully brought under control. During the incident, the shed of the sawmill collapsed twice while people were trying to douse the flames. As a result, Junaid and Javed, residents of Bagh Umrao Dulha, sustained injuries. That fire continued for nearly an hour, but only five small fire tenders reached the spot initially. The BHEL administration was also informed; however, one of its two fire tenders was out of order, while the other was kept on emergency standby. Fire tenders from the Fatehgarh Fire Station arrived much later and managed to bring the fire under control.
