Allegations of child abuse have surfaced against a private school in Sehore district. Parents alleged that students were punished for not completing homework by being made to stand in the cold after removing their clothes. They also claimed that children were forced to do manual work such as cleaning the school premises, sweeping floors, and watering plants. The complaint pertains to St. Angel School in Jatakheda. Following the allegations, the District Education Officer (DEO) took action on Friday and removed the school principal and the driver. The school has also been fined ₹1 lakh. Protest at school On Friday, members of the Bajrang Dal, along with workers from various social organisations, villagers, and parents, reached the school and staged a protest. In view of the situation, a heavy police force was deployed at the spot. Officials from the education department also arrived to begin an inquiry. Inquiry and action During the investigation, education department officials spoke separately with students to verify the allegations. After this, the District Education Officer ordered the immediate removal of the school principal and the driver, and imposed a financial penalty on the school. Complaint submitted to police A complaint memorandum was also submitted to the Mandi police. Police officials assured that the matter would be investigated and legal action taken as required. Following the assurance from the administration and the police, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
