The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) on Tuesday declared the final result of the Sub-Inspector (SI) and Subedar Recruitment Examination. Although the recruitment drive was conducted for 500 posts, only 436 candidates were selected, as an insufficient number of eligible candidates were available in certain reserved categories, including women. Sanjay Parmar, an OBC candidate, secured the top rank in the state with 595.98 marks. Notably, five of the top 10 candidates belong to the OBC category. More than 5,000 candidates qualified for second stage According to the Employees Selection Board, 5,113 candidates qualified for the second stage of the recruitment process based on their written examination scores. The Police Department shortlisted 1,692 candidates—three times the number of vacancies—for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and interviews. The final merit list was prepared by combining marks obtained in the written examination, PET, and interview. Only 436 posts could be filled Despite the recruitment drive for 500 vacancies, only 436 posts were filled. The Board said there were not enough eligible candidates in women’s and certain other reserved categories to meet the prescribed reservation requirements. Although some vacant posts were reclassified in accordance with recruitment rules, all vacancies could not be filled. Cut-off marks The category-wise cut-off scores announced by the Board are: OBC candidates dominate top-10 merit list The merit list shows a strong performance by OBC candidates. Among the top 10 candidates, five belong to the OBC category, while three are from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and two are from the Unreserved category. Tie-breaking and ex-servicemen benefit The Board stated that candidates securing identical marks were ranked based on age and applicable reservation rules, as per recruitment guidelines. It also clarified that ex-servicemen received the benefit of an additional 5% marks only during the preliminary stage of the main recruitment process, in accordance with government rules. Next steps for selected candidates Along with the final result, the Board has also released post-wise, category-wise, and cadre-wise cut-off marks. The Police Department will now conduct document verification, medical examinations, and appointment formalities for the selected candidates. Candidates can download their results from the official MPESB website. The Board has also stated that it reserves the right to make necessary corrections if any technical errors are found in the published results.
