A disturbing case related to the safety of minor schoolgirls has emerged from Indore’s Pardeshipura area. A woman who runs a coaching centre has alleged that a local man repeatedly indulges in obscene acts outside her institute and tries to lure minor girls by offering them toffees. According to the complaint, the accused often stands outside the coaching centre in a semi-nude condition, removes his clothes, and makes obscene gestures. When opposed, he allegedly threatens to open fire, creating fear among students, parents, and staff. Fearing for the safety of her students, the coaching operator approached Police Commissioner Santosh Singh on Monday with video evidence and demanded strict action against the accused, identified as Vijay Singh Jhala. Police took written apology, accused released The woman alleged that when she first approached the local police station, officers accepted her written complaint but did not register an FIR. Instead, they made the accused write an apology letter and released him. She claimed that immediately after leaving the police station, Vijay Jhala again began abusing and threatening her. The teacher said the police response emboldened the accused rather than stopping his behaviour. Repeated obscene acts despite police intervention The complainant stated that on December 19, around 11 am, the accused again made obscene gestures outside the coaching centre. She called the police emergency number 112, after which the police took him to the station. However, even this time, the accused was released after submitting an apology. The woman said that after his release, he again used abusive language and issued threats. She recorded this incident on video as further evidence. No FIR registered despite video evidence The teacher alleged that she returned to the police station and demanded registration of an FIR, but the duty officer refused to take her complaint. She was reportedly told to come back after 6 pm when the Station House Officer (TI) R.D. Kanwa would arrive. Despite having video proof, she claimed she was made to wait at the police station for a long time and no FIR was registered. Accused has previous Arms Act case The complainant further claimed that the accused has a criminal background. A few years ago, a case under the Arms Act was registered against him at Indore’s MG Road police station, where he was accused of purchasing and selling illegal weapons from Sikligars. Questions raised over police commissioner’s orders The incident has raised serious questions about the implementation of recent directives issued by the Police Commissioner. Only days ago, police officials were instructed to immediately register FIRs and strengthen the beat system, especially in cases involving women and minors. However, the handling of this case has sparked concerns over police accountability and the safety of children in public spaces. The complainant has demanded strict legal action against the accused and immediate intervention to ensure the safety of students attending coaching classes in the area.
