Statements have been recorded from Raja’s brother Vipin and Sonam’s friends as part of the ongoing investigation. Bail petition filed recently Sonam had filed her latest bail petition in Shillong court on December 17 or 18. Vipin said the court has rejected it, but the family has yet to have a detailed discussion with their lawyer and is gathering information from legal counsel and other sources. According to Vipin, the bail petition claimed that Sonam was happy in her marriage and that her relationship with Raj Kushwah was like that of siblings. Vipin, however, raised questions over this claim. Questions raised by Raja’s family Raja and Sonam were married on May 11. Vipin alleged that Sonam was misleading the police and the court. “If she was happy with the marriage, why would she plan to kill Raja? If her relationship with Raj was like that of siblings, why did she go to his house after the murder? Why did she stay at the flat in Indore?” he said. Vipin added that he has full faith in the court, and believes that Raja will get justice and the accused will face strict punishment.
