An undergraduate student of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Anuppur, has accused Assistant Professor Dr. Nayan Sahu of misconduct. Following this, students protested at the university demanding strict action against the professor. Allegations of indecent behaviour The student stated that around 5 PM on Monday, Dr. Sahu called her to the Botany Department cabin. She said the professor spoke and acted in a way that was inappropriate for the teacher-student relationship. He allegedly committed an indecent act and made an immoral proposal. She also said the professor told her not to tell anyone. She has emailed her complaint to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Threat to defame The student claimed that Dr. Sahu threatened to ruin her reputation and career if she did not comply with his demands. He reportedly used his position as General Secretary of the university’s Teacher Association to intimidate her. Students demanded that the professor be removed from all academic duties involving the student and be prevented from contacting her in any way. Demands to police The student asked the police to file a case against the professor. She requested that he be arrested and barred from evaluating her answer sheets or making any academic decisions about her. University PRO Rajneesh Tripathi said the internal committee has submitted the investigation report to the Registrar. Further action will be taken based on this report.
