The family of Indore BJP MLA Golu Shukla has once again landed in controversy. This time, the issue is linked to the Khajrana Ganesh Temple, where his son and daughter-in-law entered the sanctum sanctorum despite a long-standing restriction. A video of the incident has triggered questions about the role of the temple administration and revived memories of earlier controversies involving the MLA’s family. Entry into Khajrana sanctum despite ban The incident took place at Indore’s famous Khajrana Ganesh Temple. Despite restrictions, MLA Golu Shukla’s elder son and daughter-in-law entered the sanctum sanctorum. Inside, they were seen exchanging garlands in front of Lord Ganesha. The role of the temple management is now under scrutiny. Visit after wedding MLA Shukla’s elder son Anjnesh married Simran on December 11. The very next day, on December 12, the couple visited Khajrana Ganesh Temple. During the visit, they not only offered prayers but also entered the sanctum sanctorum. Long-standing ban on sanctum entry Since the Covid period, entry of common devotees into the sanctum sanctorum has been banned. The restriction applies to all visitors at the Khajrana Ganesh Temple. The latest incident has raised concerns over unequal enforcement of the rules. Earlier Mahakal Temple controversy This is not the first time MLA Shukla’s family has faced such allegations. In July 2025, his younger son Rudraksh entered the sanctum sanctorum of Ujjain’s Mahakal Temple. The entry was reportedly forceful and against temple norms. During the Mahakal incident, a temple employee, Ashish Dubey, tried to stop Rudraksh. Rudraksh allegedly threatened him. MLA Golu Shukla was also present at the temple at that time. Dispute at Dewas Tekri Temple Another controversy occurred on the night of April 11 this year. Rudraksh Shukla visited Mata Tekri in Dewas with his associates. A dispute broke out with the priest over opening the temple doors at midnight. The priest later approached the police. He alleged that he was assaulted and threatened. The matter was resolved only after an apology was offered to the priest. Fresh debate on temple protocols The Khajrana incident has reopened debate on temple rules and privileges.
