The state government has sent a proposal to dismiss Senior IAS Santosh Kumar Verma over objectionable comments about Brahmin daughters, a move hailed as a victory by Savarna and Brahmin communities. However, administrative experts say the proposal from the General Administration Department (GAD) is incomplete. It remains unclear whether the government intends to dismiss Verma or merely cancel his promotion, and the central government may return the proposal due to this ambiguity. Proposal sent to centre on 12 December This proposal was sent to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on December 12, with the signature of Farheen Khan, Additional Secretary of the General Administration Department. It mentions action against Santosh Verma, but the concrete reasons for the action have not been clearly stated. Proposal on Santosh Verma lacks clarity Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Sharad Chandra Behar told Dainik Bhaskar that the proposal does not specify the grounds for dismissal. It only mentions that memorandums were received from various organisations and that Santosh Verma’s statement has increased social tension. Promotion cancelled or dismissal? Stance unclear The former Chief Secretary said that the biggest drawback of the proposal is that the government’s decision is not clear. On one hand, there is talk of cancelling promotions, and on the other hand, a demand for dismissal has also been written. The process for both cases is different and requires different evidence. Social organisations are not satisfied yet Organisations, including the Ministry Officer Employee Service Association, All India Brahmin Society, and Brahmin Regiment, have called the sending of the proposal a correct step. But they say that until concrete action is taken, the movement should not end. Organisations say that sending the proposal is the first success, but not the final decision. For this reason, preparations are being made to continue the movement further.
