VIT Bhopal responds to government notice, refutes allegations:Says, ‘Only 35 of 17,000 students suffer jaundice’; claims fake news fueled unrest

In response to the state government’s show-cause notice, VIT Bhopal University submitted a detailed 49-page reply, calling the allegations misleading, baseless, and based on incorrect information. The university stated that all standards regarding food quality, water purification, health facilities, hostel management, and student safety are being met. VIT administration stated that the university has 8 boys’ and 2 girls’ hostels, for which food arrangements are made through reputed caterers from Indore, Bhopal, and Chennai. The Student Food Committee decides the meal menu monthly, and immediate action is taken on student feedback. According to the university, under the security SOP, any unknown vehicle is stopped at the gate for verification, but the allegation that an official being stopped for 2 hours is false. Allegations such as confiscating students’ ID cards or threatening them were completely denied. VIT informed the government that on November 25, 2025, fake news such as the death of three students and 300 being in serious condition was spread on social media. The university stated, The show-cause notice is based on “false and unconfirmed information.” The institution has complied with all standards, and therefore demanded that the notice be withdrawn.
