Rewa MP seeks action against IAS Santosh Verma:Accuses him of caste fraud for promotion and cites 2021 jail case

Demands for action against IAS officer Santosh Verma, who recently made a controversial comment about Brahmin women, have increased. Rewa MP Janardan Mishra has written a letter to Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh, asking for an investigation into Verma’s remark, his past criminal cases, and the process through which he received promotion in the IAS. The MP has also accused Verma of changing his caste category to get promoted. Controversial comment at an AJJAKS event According to the MP, Verma said on stage during an AJAKS, the association of employees belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories​​​​, programme: “Reservation should continue until a Brahmin gives his daughter to my son or forms a relationship with him.” The MP called this statement inappropriate, insulting, gender-insensitive, and something that can create caste tension. Accused of changing caste category for promotion The MP wrote that Verma was originally from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, but allegedly claimed to belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category when applying for an IAS promotion. He has demanded a full investigation into this. 2021 arrest mentioned The MP also referred to an old criminal case against Verma.
He said Verma had a case pending for assaulting a woman and using abusive language. In 2021, Verma was arrested for allegedly submitting a fake compromise document in court and was sent to judicial custody.
The MP questioned how Verma was promoted to IAS despite this case still being ongoing. Negative attitude toward women’s empowerment The MP stated that Verma’s recent comment reflects a mindset that goes against the Prime Minister’s campaign for women’s empowerment. The MP has made three demands from the Centre:
