Due to continuous snowfall in the hill states, Madhya Pradesh has been experiencing severe cold for the past 15 days. In the last 24 hours, a cold wave swept through seven districts, including Bhopal and Indore. Narsinghpur witnessed a cold day, while night temperatures dipped sharply across several cities. A cold wave alert has been issued for Saturday in seven districts, including Bhopal and Indore. Two suspected cold-related deaths were reported: one in Rewa on Friday and another three days earlier in Raisen. While the administration has not officially confirmed cold as the cause of death, family members insist it was due to the extreme weather. Surendran, cold winds from the north had intensified the chill over the past few days. However, a shift in wind pattern is expected to bring temporary relief from the cold wave starting tomorrow. Unusually cold November: Early onset of winter For the past decade, MP has seen a pattern of cold conditions combined with November rainfall. Normally, severe winter begins in the second week of November, but this year the chill intensified from the first week itself. October also exceeded rainfall expectations, recording 2.8 inches of rain — 121% above the normal 1.3 inches. Indore: Minimum temperature has dropped to 5.6°C Indore usually experiences a significant temperature drop starting the second week of November, with nights settling at 10–12°C. The lowest November temperature ever recorded was 5.6°C on 25 November 1938. Daytime temperatures typically hover between 31°C and 33°C, with occasional rain. Gwalior: 3°C recorded in 1970 In the past decade, Gwalior’s November minimum temperature has reached 8°C. Its all-time November record is 3°C, set in 1970. Daytime temperatures normally stay between 33°C and 35°C, but on 2 November 2001, it spiked to 37.3°C. The city has also seen November rainfall, with more than 3 inches recorded in 1927. Jabalpur: Over 6 Inches rainfall in 1946 Jabalpur recorded a minimum of 7.8°C in 2022. The lowest November temperature ever was 3.9°C on 12 November 1989. The city received more than 6 inches of November rainfall in 1946 and has seen rain twice in the last decade. Daytime temperatures stay between 30°C and 33°C. Ujjain: Night temperature has dropped to 2.8°C Ujjain’s all-time lowest November minimum temperature is 2.8°C, recorded on 30 November 1974. The highest November day temperature in recent decades was 36.5°C on 6 November 2008. Over the past 10 years, nighttime temperatures have stayed between 10°C and 11°C, while days remain in the 33°C to 35°C range.
