Today, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will transfer Rs 1,500 to the accounts of Ladli Behna beneficiaries in Seoni. The scheme previously gave Rs 1,250 per month. After cabinet approval, the amount has been increased by Rs 250. A total of Rs 1,587 crore will be transferred to the accounts of 1 crore 26 lakh 36 thousand women. This marks another installment under the scheme, which aims at supporting women financially and economically. Possible renaming of the scheme There is speculation that the Chief Minister may rename the Ladli Behna Yojana as the ‘Devi Subhadra Yojana’. Two days ago, during the Bhai Dooj programme at CM House, Dr. Yadav referred to the scheme as Subhadra Yojana, but later corrected himself. However, Nidhi Nivedita, Commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department, denied any official confirmation regarding a name change. Focus on women’s economic empowerment The scheme links women to self-employment opportunities. It connects beneficiaries with various government programmes so they can start small businesses in villages and cities. Since its launch in June 2023 during former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s tenure, the government has transferred over Rs 44,900 crore in 29 installments under this scheme. Shri Krishna-Subhadra analogy During Bhai Dooj, Dr. Mohan Yadav spoke about the relationship between Lord Shri Krishna and Subhadra. He said it represents the most beautiful example of brother-sister love and protection. Just as Shri Krishna safeguarded his sister Subhadra, the government aims to ensure the happiness, safety, and self-reliance of every sister in the state. The Chief Minister briefly called the Ladli Behna scheme the Subhadra Yojana during his speech, which was later corrected. Speculations about name change It is reported that discussions about renaming the scheme have been ongoing for several months. Former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also consulted. However, no official announcement has been made yet.
