jadeja-curran-samson-trade-talks-in-motion-official-word-awaited-from-bcci:three-way-ipl-swap-could-take-a-couple-of-days-to-finalise;-all-players-have-agreed-report

The blockbuster IPL trade involving Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran and Sanju Samson is moving forward but is yet to be officially completed. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have begun the formal process, which- according to IPL regulations- takes 48 hours to be finalised once all paperwork reaches the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sources quoted Cricbuzz suggest that consent has been obtained from all three players and the Expression of Interest (EOI) process has begun. “All three have signed on the dotted line, but it will take a couple of days for the trade to be formalised,” a franchise official said. As of Monday evening (November 10), neither CSK nor RR had formally notified the IPL or BCCI about the swap. A senior BCCI official confirmed that “the matter has not yet been brought to their notice.” Since one of the players involved is England’s Sam Curran, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will also need to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC), as required by IPL trade rules for overseas players. If approved, the move would see CSK send Jadeja and Curran to RR in exchange for Sanju Samson, who, like Jadeja, was retained by his franchise for ₹18 crore ahead of IPL 2025. Curran was a ₹2.4 crore buy for CSK in the last mega auction. Earlier, reports suggested that RR initially sought Dewald Brevis, but after CSK declined, Curran was added to the deal to balance value. The development has already divided opinions in the IPL ecosystem, with former CSK stalwart Suresh Raina urging the franchise not to trade Jadeja. He said: Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a gun player for CSK and has done really well for the team over the years What the IPL rules say? A trade takes 48 hours to formalise after submission to the BCCI. Overseas players require an NOC from their national board. Franchises can renegotiate fees, but only the league fee is negotiable. Players can be traded only once per season. BCCI releases the first official communication on any trade. Next steps With player consent secured, the franchises are awaiting BCCI’s formal nod. If cleared within the trade window, the IPL could see one of its most high-profile swaps in recent years-reshaping both CSK’s balance and RR’s leadership core.
