In Jaora, Ratlam, villagers pelted stones at an NCB team chasing doda-chura smugglers. The team identified themselves, after which the villagers stopped, having mistaken them for accomplices of the smugglers. The incident occurred Sunday night in Rola village, Jaora. The Neemuch NCB team had received information about doda-chura smugglers in a Brezza (MP 09 CU 7684) and chased them in a Scorpio and a Thar. To escape, the smugglers drove from Neemuch towards Ratlam. Near the Rola village bus stand, villagers noticed the speeding vehicles. All three vehicles reached a bridge under construction over the Rupania river, where the road was blocked. The Brezza got stuck, and the smugglers fled while the two NCB vehicles behind also stopped. The villagers, thinking the car in front had fallen into the river, ran towards the bridge.
