A major burglary incident unfolded at the residence of a jewellery businessman in the Fiza Palace Phase-6 locality under Koh-e-Fiza Police Station in Bhopal, on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, the police reported on Thursday. The jeweller’s family, as per police, was attending their son’s wedding at a nearby marriage garden when unidentified thieves broke into the locked house and stole cash and jewellery worth ₹50 lakh. According to police, the burglars broke open the cupboard lock and made off with ₹11.5 lakh in cash along with several gold and diamond ornaments. The cops are suspecting that someone present at the wedding may have been involved, as the main door lock of the house was found intact. Suspicion on servant, event management staffers Koh-e-fiza police station house officer (SHO) KG Shukla told Bhaskar English that the complainant has raised suspicion over a domestic worker and members of the event management team. Following this, Koh-e-Fiza police registered a case against unknown persons and detained several suspects for questioning. The complainant, Nasiruddin (51), a resident of Fiza Palace Phase-6, owns a jewellery business. On October 28, 2025, his elder son Bilal’s wedding took place at Fortune Resort in Bairagarh. The entire family and guests were engaged in the festivities when the incident occurred. Employee was sent home with keys before the incident At around 10 pm, the family locked the house and left for the wedding venue, leaving watchman Shakeel in charge of security. Later, Tariq, a member of the event company, called up Nasiruddin, saying that decorations and fireworks had to be arranged at the house. Nasiruddin then sent his employee, Syed Rehan Ali, home with the keys. When the family returned at around 2:15 am., they found the main door and cupboard locks broken. Upon inspection, they discovered cash and three jewellery boxes missing. Nasiruddin reported that the stolen ornaments included gold and diamond sets meant for his wife and son’s wedding. Cops scanning CCTV footage SHO Shukla said police have collected fingerprints and other evidence from the site. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being reviewed to identify who entered the house during the burglary.
