A shocking case of Triple Talaq emerged from Bhopal’s Shahjehanabad area on Tuesday, where a man allegedly ended his marriage by threatening his wife with a licensed firearm and pronouncing talaq three times, the police said. The incident, as per police, took place in the Ashok Colony, where the woman had been staying at her maternal uncle’s house. Accused a resident of Bhopal’s Kotwali area Shahjehanabad police station house officer (SHO) Umesh Pal Singh Chouhan told Bhaskar English that the accused, identified as Danish, is a resident of Gujar Pura (Kotwali area) and owns a furniture shop. He arrived at the woman’s uncle’s residence late on Sunday evening carrying his licensed gun. On seeing him, the woman panicked and locked herself inside a room. Standing outside, Danish reportedly shouted “talaq, talaq, talaq,” ending the relationship on the spot. Wife files complaint; police seizes gun, arrests accused Terrified, the woman immediately approached the Shahjehanabad Police Station on Monday late night and lodged a complaint. The police swiftly acted, arresting Danish and confiscating his firearm. SHO Chouhan said, “The woman came to the station on Monday and reported that her husband had arrived at her house with a weapon and pronounced triple talaq. The weapon, which is licensed, has been seized, and the matter is under investigation.” Marital dispute, possible affair under probe Preliminary investigation carried out by the police revealed that the couple had been experiencing marital discord for quite some time. The woman’s parents passed away some time earlier, the police said. Police sources also suspect that the accused might have been involved with another woman, though the fact has not yet been confirmed.
