Four athletes from the Madhya Pradesh State Triathlon Academy, Bhopal, namely, Aadya Singh, Durvisa Pawar, Roshan Gond, and Abhishek Modanwal, have been selected to represent India at the Asia Triathlon Junior and Under-23 Championship. The continental event will be held in Aqaba, Jordan, from October 30 to November 1, 2025. The Indian contingent, led by Head Coach Captain Manoj Kumar Jha, left for Jordan on October 27 (Monday). This championship is regarded as one of Asia’s premier sporting events, featuring top triathletes from across the continent. Golden opportunity for young athletes The championship presents a vital platform for emerging triathletes to demonstrate their abilities at the international level and prepare for future Olympic participation. The MP academy players earned their places on the national team following an exceptional performance at the National Selection Camp, where they impressed selectors with their skill and endurance. Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, Rakesh Gupta, and Joint Director BS Yadav, extended their best wishes to the athletes, expressing confidence that the team will make both the state and the nation proud. “Our athletes have been consistently delivering excellent performances. We are optimistic that this team will return with medals,” Gupta said. Rigorous training and International preparation Head Coach Captain Manoj Kumar Jha added that the players have undergone intensive preparation, including specialised training sessions designed in line with international standards. “The team is fully prepared. The focus has been on improving endurance, speed transitions, and race discipline to match global competition levels,” he said. What is Triathlon? A triathlon is a multi-sport endurance event combining swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession. The athlete who completes all three segments in the shortest time is declared the winner.
