Madhya Pradesh police’s crackdown on the manufacture, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor across the state seems to have picked pace recently, as the cops seized contraband worth ₹4.02 crore within just four weeks, a statement issued by the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) read on Monday. The operation, which spans multiple districts, reflects the police department’s firm stance against illicit liquor networks operating in the region. DGP orders SPs of all districts to keep vigil Under the directions of MP’s Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana, all district Superintendents of Police were instructed to take strict action against liquor smugglers and their associated networks. Acting on these orders, the police force of the state has achieved remarkable success, significantly curbing illegal trade and strengthening law and order across Madhya Pradesh. Major seizures reported from these districts Alirajpur: The Alirajpur police, under a sustained series of operations, led to the seizure of illicit liquor worth ₹97.06 lakh. Earlier raids in the district had recovered consignments valued at ₹9.38 lakh, ₹10.89 lakh, and ₹8.62 lakh, bringing the total seizures in Alirajpur to over ₹1.23 crore. Indore (Rural): Acting on a confidential tip-off, the Betma Police of rural Indore intercepted a truck carrying 1,200 boxes of illegal beer malt, equivalent to 14,400 bulk litres, worth ₹33.6 lakh. Morena: The police team in Morena district seized illicit liquor valued at ₹4.4 lakh. Cases have been registered against the accused under the Excise Act, and investigations are underway against the identified suspects. Ujjain: In Ujjain district, a recent raid resulted in the seizure of illegal liquor worth ₹98,000. Ongoing legal action The latest figures come in addition to the ₹2.4 crore worth of illegal liquor seized by Madhya Pradesh Police over the past three weeks. Cumulatively, enforcement teams have now confiscated liquor worth more than ₹4.02 crore, with legal proceedings continuing under the Excise Act in all cases.
