International martial arts player dies by suicide in Dewas:Body found hanging at home; won bronze medal at Asian Jujutsu Championship

Rohini Kalam (35), a Jujutsu (Japanese martial arts) player from Dewas who represented India in the Asian Games, has died by suicide. On Sunday, her younger sister, Roshni Kalam, found her body hanging in her room at their residence in Arjun Nagar Radhaganj. She was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. At the time of the incident, her mother was away on a pilgrimage with another daughter, while her father was also out of the house for work. Rohini was working as a martial arts coach at a private school in Ashta. She had returned home to Dewas on Saturday. Rohini Kalam began her sporting career in 2007 and had been participating professionally in Jujutsu since 2015. Last year, she won a bronze medal at an international Jujutsu competition held in Abu Dhabi. She also served as the General Secretary of the Jujutsu Federation. Sister’s account Family members said she had tea and breakfast normally in the morning. Her sister, Roshni, said Rohini had spoken to someone on the phone and later went into her room, locking the door from inside. Eldest of 4 sisters Rohini was the eldest of her four sisters. No suicide note was recovered from the scene. The reasons for her death are currently unknown. Police have registered a case and started investigating the suicide.
