A young man opened fire at an MP Online operator in Roshanpura, Bhopal, after a financial dispute. The bullet grazed the operator, causing minor injuries. The accused had earlier transferred Rs 30,000 to an account. When the operator demanded the money, the man brought a rifle from his car and fired four rounds. Incident details The shooting happened near Arera Hills police station, just 400 metres away. One bullet hit the glass of a nearby jewellery shop, Akshay Jewellers. The accused fired one round inside the shop and three rounds outside. The incident created panic in the high-profile area, and shopkeepers closed their businesses. The locality is busy, with many jewellery stores, and close to the Governor’s House. Injured operator The injured operator, Shyam (22), sustained a minor wound on his waist. He was immediately attended to but the injury was not life-threatening. Accused identified Based on the vehicle number, the police identified the accused as Lokendra Singh Gurjar. He is a resident of Bhind. The vehicle was registered in Bhind and had a ‘Police’ label on it. Police action Additional DCP Gautam Solanki and senior officers reached the spot after receiving information. The city has been placed under alert, and police have set up barricades to catch the accused. A manhunt is underway across Bhopal to locate him. Public reaction The firing caused widespread fear in the area. Residents and shopkeepers were shocked by the brazen attack in a busy and high-profile location. Many jewellery shops were closed immediately following the incident.
