Police team attacked in Panna while arresting murder suspect:2 cops injured, 8 flee leaving weapons as villagers turn violent

A police team was attacked by villagers in Gajana Dharampur, Panna district, on Wednesday night. Station In-charge Mahendra Singh Bhadauria and Constable Ram Niranjan Kushwaha were seriously injured. They were immediately taken to Birla Hospital in Satna. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM while the team was attempting to arrest an accused. Attempt to arrest suspect turns violent The police team had gone to Dharampur village to arrest Pancham Yadav, son of Shiv Singh Yadav. Pancham is accused in a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. As soon as the team reached the village, a dispute broke out. Villagers attack police Around 40 to 50 villagers surrounded the officers and attacked them. During the assault, Station In-charge Bhadauria and Constable Kushwaha were taken hostage. Eight other policemen fled the village, leaving their weapons behind to save their lives. They immediately informed the police control room about the attack.
