A chaos prevailed at the old Police Control Room at Regal Square on Monday when a police constable attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance inside the premises. According to officials, Sikarwar was immediately rushed to MY Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment and is reported to be in critical condition. Constable mentally disturbed after daughter’s death Police officials said that the constable had been in deep distress following the tragic death of his daughter, Mamta Bagwan, who reportedly died in a road accident near Ghata Billod area, three months ago. However, in a memorandum he brought with him to the DIG office, Sikarwar alleged that his daughter’s death was not an accident but a murder. He claimed that Mamta was killed by her husband and his friend, and that the case was wrongly shown as an accident. The constable demanded a fair and impartial inquiry into the matter, expressing dissatisfaction with the handling of the case so far. Officials rush to scene As soon as the incident occurred, police officers and staff present at the old police control room rushed to the spot and informed senior officials. Officials confirmed that Sikarwar had earlier submitted a written complaint to his department mentioning personal and emotional distress. Senior officers have now sought a detailed report and directed an inquiry into the allegations raised by him. Police department on alert The incident has created a stir within the police department. Senior officers are reviewing the circumstances leading to the constable’s extreme step and have also begun questioning staff at Manpur police station.
