The death toll in Chhindwara’s toxic cough syrup tragedy rose to 26 on Wednesday morning, following the death of 3-year-6-month-old Ambika Vishwakarma during treatment in Nagpur. With her passing, the total number of children who have died in Madhya Pradesh due to the syrup scandal has reached 26. Currently, two more children remain critically ill in Nagpur hospitals. Ambika’s treatment spanned over a month According to reports, Ambika Vishwakarma, a resident of Kakai Bilwa village in Chaurai tehsil, fell seriously ill in early September. When local treatment did not improve her condition, her family took her to Nagpur on September 14. Doctors confirmed that she was suffering from kidney failure. After nearly a month of treatment, Ambika succumbed to her illness on Wednesday morning. Earlier, one-year-old Garvik Pawar from Moradongri, Parasia, also died while receiving treatment at Nagpur Medical College. The continuous deaths have created widespread panic in the district.
