bhopal-chamber-to-hold-first-full-meeting-today:all-office-bearers-and-members-called-to-discuss-president-tejkulpal-singh-pali’s-resignation-and-chamber-rules

Following the resignation of Tejkulpal Singh Pali as Chairman of the Bhopal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), a full meeting of all office bearers and members is scheduled for Saturday. The meeting, the first of its kind since the resignation, will focus on discussing rules and procedures, as many officials and members had missed previous sessions. Meeting to discuss rules and procedures The meeting will be held at the Chamber office in Kohefiza in the afternoon. Secretary Pradeep Kumar Tiwari has sent formal letters inviting all office bearers and members. The resignation has stirred significant debate in Bhopal’s business circles, making the Chamber’s internal politics increasingly tense. Multiple letters regarding resignation So far, three letters related to the resignation have surfaced. One from General Secretary Aditya Jain ‘Manya’ and another from Secretary Pradeep Kumar Tiwari confirmed that Pali’s resignation was accepted according to rules. Jain informed Pali of the acceptance via WhatsApp. On the other hand, Company Secretary Amit Kumar Sen questioned the process, claiming it was flawed and violated the rules. He argued that Pali’s resignation, submitted on official letterhead, was legally improper. According to Sen, resignations of constitutional office-bearers must be submitted on a personal paper, maintaining confidentiality, which was not followed. Sen also raised issues regarding the notice period for the meeting, unclear notices, attendance registers versus consent, the opportunity for the chairman to present his case, and the legality of the meeting itself. He concluded that Pali’s resignation should not have been accepted under any circumstances. Sudden resignation and initial reactions Pali reportedly submitted his resignation late at night on October 3 to General Secretary Jain, citing his three years and nine months of service. He stated that he had performed his duties fully and wanted to resign to avoid any blame in the upcoming elections scheduled between December 15 and January 15. He further remarked that during his tenure, other office bearers had shown little interest in Chamber activities and had not attended to office matters adequately. Immediate meeting after resignation On October 4, a meeting was held at the Chamber office in Kohefiza, where General Secretary Jain initially accepted Pali’s resignation. In the session, out of 16 officials and members, 12 suggested giving Pali an opportunity to present his side on October 6, but the suggestion was rejected. Of the five nominated members, only Rohit Jain attended, opposing the acceptance of the resignation. He questioned how a resignation could be approved when not all nominated members were present. Another nominated member, Harish Gyan Chandani, said he was informed just before the meeting and was therefore unable to attend. Pali’s tenure marks financial growth Under Pali’s leadership, the BCCI saw significant financial growth. In September, the annual general meeting presented the Chamber’s audit report, revealing deposits exceeding Rs 1 crore in FDRs and savings accounts. Pali also reported that around 580 new members joined during his tenure, bringing the total active membership to approximately 1,850. The Chamber now has reserves of Rs 1.03 crore. Pali’s resignation and the upcoming meeting are likely to have a significant impact on the Chamber’s upcoming elections.
