A man residing in Bhopal’s Kolar area allegedly died by suicide late Tuesday night, after his son objected to his daily habit of liquor consumption, the police said. According to police, the man who took the extreme step has been identified as Shiv Ghadge (50), a resident of Kanhakunj. He returned home in an intoxicated state as he often did. His son, disturbed by the repeated behaviour, advised him to stop consuming alcohol. Following this, Shiv turned furious and hurled abuses at his son. Unable to bear the argument, the son left the house in anger. When he returned later in the night, he was shocked to find his father hanging, the police came to know. Argument turns into suicide Kolar police station in-charge Sanjay Soni told Bhaskar English that the incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. Shiv’s son immediately rushed his father to a nearby hospital after cutting him down from the noose. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival, and alerted the police. The police rushed to the scene and registered a case of unnatural death. They have now launched a probe into the incident. Shiv used to work at furniture shop: Investigating officer Investigating officer (IO) in the case, Jogendra Negi said that Shiv worked at a furniture shop while also handling night watchman duties in the colony. He lived with his four daughters and one son. While three daughters are already married, his wife had recently travelled to Khandwa with their youngest daughter, leaving only Shiv and his son at home. Was an alcohol addict Neighbours and relatives told the cops that Shiv was addicted to alcohol and frequently returned home in an intoxicated condition. His son had often tried to counsel him against the habit, but Tuesday night’s confrontation escalated into a tragedy. Police sources confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Officials are recording statements from the family and are investigating whether prolonged alcohol addiction or any other reasons contributed to his extreme step.
