Car driver attempts to crush ASI and family in Narsinghpur:CCTV shows Innova hitting bike near Kareli Gurudwara before fleeing; police launch manhunt

An attempt was made to crush three bike riders, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), with an Innova car in Narsinghpur. The incident occurred on October 4 near the Kareli Gurudwara, and CCTV footage of the attack surfaced on Wednesday. The video shows three people riding a bike when a speeding Innova suddenly hits them from behind. As the trio falls to the ground, the car reverses briefly and then speeds away. Locals are seen signalling the driver to stop, and when he ignores them, some residents chase after the vehicle. Victim’s statement The injured ASI, Lalsingh Sen, who is posted at the Chargawan police station in Jabalpur district, recounted the ordeal. He told Bhaskar reporter, “On the 4th, there was an event at my house, so I came on leave. My brother-in-law was with me, and my younger son Amit had come to Kareli station to pick us up. We were heading home on a bike.” Sen said the incident happened around 11:30 pm. During the journey, an Innova car overtook them multiple times. “I know the young man driving the car, his name is Kunal Sharma, alias Kanha. He was slowing down and speeding up repeatedly, overtaking us two or three times,” he said. “As soon as we reached near Kareli Gurudwara, he hit our bike from behind. I fell on the spot, while my brother-in-law and son were thrown nearly ten feet away. Kunal then fled, shouting abuses,” Sen added. See, 5 pictures… Locals rushed victims to hospital People present at the scene immediately took the injured trio to a nearby hospital. The Kareli police reached the spot shortly after. Later, it was revealed that the same Innova had also hit two other people before this incident. “I know one of them, a young man named Monu, but not the other. I have no enmity with Kunal,” the ASI clarified. Police launch manhunt for accused Kareli police station’s Sub-Inspector Abhishek Jain confirmed the details, saying, “The Innova driver, Kunal, fled the scene after hitting the victims. Based on ASI Lalsingh Sen’s complaint, a case has been registered against him. Efforts to arrest the accused are ongoing.” Police have identified the accused and are examining CCTV footage to trace his movements following the crash.
