former-cm-digvijaya-singh-warns-cm-mohan-yadav-urgently:claims-indore-police-fail-to-act-against-ruling-party-leaders,-threatens-court-if-government-ignores-issue

Regarding the case of removing Muslim employees from shops and vacating shops in Indore’s Sheetla Mata Market area, former CM Digvijaya Singh has written a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. In his letter, Digvijaya Singh has also informed the CM about those sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita under which cases can be registered in such matters. Digvijaya wrote that the 15-day deadline sought by the police for action is ending on October 6. If no action is taken, he will go to court. Now read what Digvijaya wrote to the CM in the letter Indore’s case has gone international
Dear Dr. Mohan Yadav ji, I want to draw your attention to an incident in Indore, known as the economic capital of Madhya Pradesh, where the poison of communalism was sown between Hindu and Muslim traders. Here, under pressure from the ruling party BJP, the police are not prosecuting the accused but are protecting anti-social elements. This highly reprehensible incident is being discussed not only across the state but also across the country. By reporting on the attempt to create communal division, the matter has reached an international level. Indore Police Helpless Before Leaders of the Ruling Party
Digvijaya Singh wrote- Through the intelligence branch of Madhya Pradesh Police, you must have also come to know about this heinous incident. How helpless the Indore police are before the leaders of the ruling party is reflected in the events ongoing for a month. In the last week of August 2025, Eklavya Gaud, son of former minister late Laxman Singh Gaud and local MLA and former mayor Malini Singh Gaud, held a meeting with the traders of Sheetlamata Mandir Bazaar, Indore, and issued a decree to them to remove Muslim employees from their shops. He also said that any Muslim traders setting up shops should have their shops vacated. Eklavya Gaur, son of the MLA, runs an organization called ‘Hind Raksha Sangathan’ and is active in local politics as the son of a BJP MLA. Shopkeepers removing Muslim salesmen at the behest of MLA’s son
The former CM further wrote – Hema Panjwani, president of the Indore Cloth Merchants Association, says that after Eklavya Gaur’s order, traders are removing Muslim salesmen from work. The BJP leader says that Muslim employees are running ‘love jihad’ in the market. Whereas the local police say that no such complaint has been registered with them yet. Frightened by the BJP leader’s hateful statement, Muslim employees and traders are becoming unemployed as their livelihoods are being snatched away. More than two hundred Muslim employees have been removed from shops. CM, Minister in charge of Indore, a heinous game is being played there
Digvijay wrote- It is a matter of great surprise that you not only have the Home Department but are also the Minister in charge of Indore district. In Indore, the district under your charge, such a heinous game of communalism is being played by the son of an MLA from your own party, and the police, who chant the slogan ‘Patriotism, Public Service’, are helpless and powerless. Chintu Chokse, President of Indore District Congress Committee, and the employees and traders doing business in the Sheetlamata Bazaar area had submitted a memorandum regarding this incident 15 days ago to the Indore Divisional Commissioner, Commissioner of Police, and DCP. No action has been taken on it till date. Police did not allow me to go to Sheetla Mata Temple
The former CM wrote- On September 27 in Indore, I understood the reality of this incident after meeting with the victimized and harassed traders at a neutral location. I listened to the grievances of the minority traders who presented their side by protesting against Eklavya Gaur. I have promised to support the struggle for the protection of the fundamental rights of common citizens enshrined in the Constitution of India. During this, when I made a plan to visit Sheetla Mata Temple, the local police stopped me from entering the market. Then I discussed with local leaders and traders and went to the local police station to talk to the T.I. I wanted to know the reason for not registering a case on the memorandum previously submitted by the traders. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Dishesh Agrawal informed that the memorandum has been pending investigation with them for the past one week. A decision regarding completing the investigation and registering a case will be taken within the next 15 days, by October 6. BNS Sections for Action Explained
The former CM wrote that taking cognizance of this incident, which is disturbing the social harmony of Indore and the entire state, please instruct to register a case under sections 152, 196, 197, 293, 299 and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. In case the police do not take action, I will file a petition in court with the victims regarding their rights concerning this incident of spreading communalism.
